Reinhold Messner announced plans to open his new mountain museum in the Slovak High Tatras
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020 near Lake Strbske Pleso, located at an altitude of 1350 m above sea level
Reinhold Messner is the first person who made an oxygen-free climb to Everest and the first who climbed all 14 of the eight-thousanders of the planet
Messner’s mountain museums currently has six locations, all located in northern Italy
These museums are designed to remind the time when classical mountaineering was experiencing its "golden age." Reinhold Messner did not accidentally choose the High Tatras for his new project. The new museum will be built in honor of the outstanding climbers of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, whom Messner himself often met on his expeditions
In this museum, unlike other Messner exhibition halls, not only exhibits from Reinhold will be shown, but also exhibits from the history of climbers Tatras and Carpathians themselves
